great though your self-imposed challenge is, I can't thinking that maybe all that heavy, soft pencil is a bit of Steve Payne comfort zone - personally, I'd like to see you with a twig and some indian ink - something that might encourage you to let go a bit and generate something with a bit more capacity to express? How about folding in alternate media as part of your challenge? Just saying.... :)
